Learn NLP and Hypnosis for Pain Management at The Turning Point Seminar

NLP and Hypnosis for Pain Management

Pain is most often a physical hurt or type of disorder, or can be an emotional distress as well. Some pain is never-ending and unbearable for people. Doctors prescribe prescription drugs for this type of pain. Most prescription pills do work, but for a small section of people, they are not effective, this is where hypnosis and NLP can help.

NLP stands for “neuro-linguistic programming”. This type of programming uses a pre-defined list of principles to help define the connection between language and mind. Although there were initial doubts about it’s use for pain treatment, the majority of the medical community now concurs that it does help with severe pain control.

The difference between acute and chronic pain is that chronic pain usually lasts for more than a month and acute pain is shorter lasting. Acute pain is still severe, even low-level pain can stop daily life activities. Pain can be described by a variety of words; throbbing, stabbing, jabbing, or nagging to name a few. Pain can also be changed due to a memory, emotional condition, or physical condition. Sometimes doctors can’t even find a cause for the pain.

Here are a few techniques that can aid in this terrible pain:

RELAXATION:
Relaxation techniques can help tremendously with pain. Find a quiet room, tell yourself in a soothing voice to relax and take deep breaths. With each passing breath, relax your body a little bit more, count backwards from 10 and you will put yourself into a type of trance.

SYNESTHESIA:
This is a technique that can be completed in a very light trance. This take the approach of exploring the pain as a type of sensation. You put meaning to your pain, and ask yourself the following questions: What color is the pain? Does it have a texture? How does it move, slow or fast? What is the pain? This will help your pain to make more sense to your subconscious. Then, you have to physically move your pain to the outside of your body and it will be easier to observe. Then, examine it like it is 4 feet away from you. Visualize yourself changing the quality of it, trying changing the sound, color, or make it bigger or smaller. Now, realize what happens when you make these changes. Now that you are in control of the pain, you can send it away, or put it back into your body in a different place where you can manage it easier. Even better than that, try turning it upside down and then put it in the same place. This will have a ying yang effect and cancel out the original pain.

INCREASING ENERGY:
When someone is in pain, managing the pain takes away all of their extra energy. Basic visualization can over come this. Take yourself to a place where you are completely and totally relaxed so you can focus only on your breathing. Then, imagine there is a glowing ball of light all around your body, you can hear the noise it makes, and feel it’s vibrations. Finally, imagine every breath you breathe in is full of energy. This light becomes brighter with each breath, the noises get louder, and the vibrations stronger. As you expel your breath, imagine the pain is leaving your body. The sound and vibrations help you relax and you can feel the light massaging your body.

By using the above techniques, you can take control of your pain and ease it. These are not the same as NLP or hypnosis, but may help you tremendously. For more information on NLP and hypnosis, visit The Turning Point Seminar by Marshall Sylver or to get tickets to the turning point seminar

Marshall Sylver uses Hypnotherapy for Motivation

Category: Turning Point Seminaradmin @ 3:28 pm

Using Hypnotherapy as a Tool for Getting Motivated

Having success and being positive in your life all leads back to motivation. If you do not have motivation, you will not be able to be successful in your life. Motivations is what helps us through our daily tasks, work hard, have positive relationships, earn more money, and have a happy family. Sometimes, we may not have motivation easily, when getting out of bed seems impossible.
Lack of motivation can really stop people from leading productive, healthy lives. This causes poor relationships and difficulty in communication. If you are aware of this problem, and take measures to improve your motivation, you can improve your life. Try hypnotherapy and motivate yourself to get your life back.

Hypnotherapy relates to an abstract concept of motivation, and can help in all areas of your life. Athletics, jobs, quitting bad habits, or losing weight, can all be motivated by hypnotherapy. You must begin by identifying your goals, then you can start motivation. This is all about helping you acheive everything you possibly can, and sometimes experiences in our lives stop us from being motivated. Hypnotherapy used as a tool for motivation works by removing those mental road blocks in your subconscious.

Hypnotherapy is basically founded on suggestions, but works so much deeper than anybody could see. This works with a part of your mind that is hidden in the subconscious, and causes it to alter your own self-image and your perception of yourself. Our subconscious is always in control on a level we are not even aware of. If we can re train it to behave differently, no doubt that the behavior that goes along with your problems will change as well. It understands the secrets that live deep within us, and connects to it. If you believe in yourself, you can retrain your mind to believe that anything is possible.

Hypnotherapists are trained to use hypnotherapy as a tool for motivation. Some may feel the need to improve their work motivation, while others need help with their relationship. People may need motivation in sports or academics, but regardless of the issue, motivation is needed in every aspect of daily life. It is important to have goals clear in our mind before we begin. This does allow us to focus on a task at hand, but if goals aren’t set, hypnotherapy will not be effective.

Motivation through hypnotherapy may seem like too simple of a solution, but their effectiveness is astonishing. It will only take a short time for these changes to occur and begin self discovery. Through altering your own view of yourself and the world, you can become a person you never dreamed you would be. So, identify your goals, dive deep into your mind, and be open to hypnotherapy. This will help you to be successful in all walks of life.

Money, Hypnosis, and Motives for Living

Life’s purpose is vague for some, but it all boils down to enrichment and development. Every person has an innate right to develop to his or her full potential.

The right to life gives all the entitlement to have free access to any thing, which will help him or her to attain the full physical, spiritual, and mental capacity. Every person has the right to be successful, have money, and be happy.

There are three basic factors that drive our lives; our mind, our soul, and our body. These are all highly distinctive motives, but also are dependent upon each other to thrive. We need money to fund our needs, and that plays a role as well.

In this modern economy and world, this is easy to say but hard to do. Everything in life is not free, everything costs money. Modern life is full of complexity and more and more money is needed to be happy.

How to live for your body:

This means to have an ample amount of food, clothing that is comfortable, and basic needs met like food and shelter. It is also important to have happiness, like sleep and recreation, that help our bodies to be healthy.

How to live for your mind:

This includes reading high quality, thought provoking literature, as well as travel. You need to make time for intellectual activities, to observe and analyze a variety of situations, and appreciate the arts like painting, music, and all things beautiful. The human mind only can function properly when it has the opportunity to use creativity and see dreams become reality.

How to live for the soul:

This means that your soul must have the capability to love and contribute to another. It is not possible to be a mother, father, brother, or son and do everything you can in that role without enough money. Along with the idea of love is also the idea of giving. To satisfy a desire of spontaneous gesture of giving is worth a lot. Just as importantly, making a contribution to others who are less fortunate is important. Not a lot of money is required for these, even a small amount can make a huge difference in someone else’s life, and make you happy for giving.

Life has to progress as a whole unit, it can not simply exist on those three small parts, there is much more to it than that. Also, you can not focus on only one of these, you need to be aware of all three. Your mind, body, and soul have to be working together as one unit, you must find this balance. To achieve a balance, you have to have enough money to do so. Therefore, it is our innate right to be rich.

Positive Attitude creates Positive People

I am the type of person who used to have a very negative attitude to most aspects of life. I am not alone in thinking this way as most of the people I meet seem to be constantly moaning about different things and basically feeling sorry for themselves. This article looks at the reasons and benefits of having a more positive outlook on life.

About ten years ago I decided that I needed to have a change of approach. I wanted to be a happy and care-free person and was fed up of always being stressed and worrying about the future. To achieve this I started to read many self-help, confidence type books and websites.

There was a regular message which came from this literature which was to think more positive and to believe in your ability to succeed in whatever you attempt to do.

This is easy to write or say, but in reality it is difficult to implement in practice. Of course I tried but in truth I did not really believe in the whole practice. I would go into a task thinking, I can do this, but it would still end up in failure.

I could not understand what was going wrong so I therefore went back to the books to try to learn more. There was a new and even more important message which I had missed the first time around. What I had to do was to take a positive out of whatever happens to me, even if this is learning from my failings.

As an example of taking a positive from whatever happens in life, is something which happened in my family recently. My nan has recently passed away, she was eighty-eight. I used to visit her at least once a week at the flat where she lived. She was a very honest person and always talked very openly to me. Around two months before she died she told me that she was very tired and that she no longer wanted to be on this planet.

I was quite shocked by her admission and asked her what was wrong. She stated that she had nothing to look forward to and that she did not want to reach a point where she could no longer bath herself etc. She continued that she hoped that I would not grieve for to long when she did die and that she wanted me to be happy for her.

This was quite upsetting for me to hear but at least she was being honest of course. Two months later my dad phoned me and told me that my nan had passed away in the night.

I was obviously upset and the thought of never being able to see her again hit me hard. I then thought about what she had said and looked up to the sky and gave my nan a smile and a message, I love you.

I thought positive about the whole event and was actually happy for her. I hope that one day we will meet again.

Centering Defined: What, How and Why?

What is center? How do you choose to be centered, and why? In what ways can you develop a strong center?

As a student and instructor of the Japanese martial art Aikido, and as a professional speaker and trainer, I often present on this topic and, in addition, have made centering a life practice. I say practice, because that is what it takes to access the Center State on purpose.

Physically, the body’s center of gravity is a point in the lower abdomen – but it is also much more. It’s a quality of being that integrates body, mind and spirit: vitality increases, the senses are sharpened, and one is less affected by everyday irritations. The Japanese describe a centered person as having hara or strong ki, the inner quality that helps the student of Aikido develop to her fullest potential. Some say it is an attitude towards life, an ability to handle whatever may come. Athletes recognize the centered state as “the zone.”

Center is a condition we can cultivate. Thomas Crum, author of Journey to Center, says, “Centering is the art of being fully alive. And wherever the art of centering is practiced, things change dramatically.”

Centering Practice
To train in centering, the Aikidoist practices a relaxed posture and directs the weight of her body towards her physical center. She also breathes into her center to enhance the grace and economy of her movement. You can do the same.

Breathe deeply. Exhale slowly. Relax and direct the weight of your body toward your center point. Now, think of a situation later today where it will be especially helpful to be balanced, calm and self-assured. Make a mental note to center when the time comes.

By becoming skilled at identifying the centered state, you can learn to choose it. This is critical in those key moments when purposeful action is needed.

Building your confidence with help from Marshall Sylver

Wouldn’t it be grand if we could just wake up in the morning, brush our teeth and put on our confidence for the day?

Well, for those of us who don’t have a drawer full, here are 4 simple strategies that will help you build confidence by Marshall Sylver.

1. Accentuate the positive.

Be your own best friend. What do you tell a friend who’s tried something new, whether or not it turned out well? At least you tried something new- good for you!

Accentuate the effort it took in doing something, rather than the final outcome. (You’d do it for your best friend, wouldn’t you?) We all have limitations. The key is to accept that you have them without dwelling on them.

2. Don’t be afraid to take some risks.

When you are about to embark on a new experience, do you spend your time worrying so much about the outcome you arenít enjoying the moment? If you look at new things in your life as a chance to learn something, it opens up the possibility of you becoming good at that something.

If you spend your time dreading the outcome, you’ll turn any opportunity there might have been into a failure. What’s more, we can’t grow when we are frozen with fear. Don’t set yourself up to fail. If you do, look at number one, again!

3. Use self-talk to keep assumptions away.

We all use self-talk. The key is to use it in a way that we don’t form bad thoughts that can lead to permanent doubts. Catch yourself using negative self-talk and cancel it with something positive and not based on assumptions!

Build confidence by not expecting perfection from yourself at all times. You can only do your very best at something. Nobody can do everything perfectly, so why do you assume that you should be able to?

4. Learn to rely on your self-evaluation.

If you always rely on the opinion of others, you’ll always be wondering what they think! That does nothing to build confidence – it tears it down, by giving away your personal power to others.

Focus on the real you, inside, to find out how you feel about your own actions, how you’ve been doing your job, etc. You’ll be developing a strong sense of who you are.

It’s important to remember that no one can be self-confident all of the time. In fact, you’ll build confidence faster and easier once your realize that.

Most people with low self-esteem or who lack in confidence are that way because of unrealistic expectations. They expect more from themselves than they do others.

A person with low self-esteem will think nothing about calling him or herself a “stupid idiot.” They wouldn’t dream of saying that to someone else. To build confidence it’s a good idea to be your own best friend.

Marshall Sylver says “Actions Do Speak Louder than Words”

Marshall Sylver is a world renowned speaker and motivational expert. You can see him in person at The Turning Point Seminar.
Fear often prevents people from making decisions. There is a way to empower yourself, not be dependent upon your circumstances to take action. We have all been faced with a similar situation. It is clear what needs to be done, but for some reason, you just can’t do ti. You are unable to act even though it is the right thing to do. You may spend hours running over the different scenarios in your head, and still be unable to take action. Then, all you can do is wait until the situation resolves itself, and see what the outcome is, positive or negative. Although there are some types of situations where this laissez-fair approach is reasonable, sometimes courage is needed to make a decision and resolve the situation.

What is lacking in this scenario is courage. When it is apparent that a certain action will benefit the greater good, fear may prohibit that action from taking places. Taking a risk can result in possible consequences and make it difficult to move forward. Sometimes neither action may have a positive outcome, but you can’t stay where you are, you must choose one of the options. Returning to the same spot, not acting on either impulse, hoping time will bring courage and clarity, will not make things happen. That clarity may never come. Often times, by the time a decision is made, more damage has been done that could have been avoided completely if someone acted sooner.

Although this is not always the case by not acting soon, it is possible. You allow yourself to become a victim by not taking control over the situation. Of course, the thought is paralyzing when you think of the possibility of regretting a hasty decision, and ask yourself it if would be prudent to think this out more. For most people, it takes longer to make these decisions than it should. People know what the right choice is, but are afraid to make it.

To take control of your life, you must learn to make decisions, it is a necessary life skill. Some people appear to be able to make decisions easier than others, like an ability they were born with, but for others it takes more practice. You have to work to develop your skill, and flex your brain muscles so it will be easier to make decisions. You must confront your fear, fear of missed opportunities, fear of failure, fear of making the wrong decision.

To develop this ability, you must first develop acceptance. When you are finally able to accept life and all it throws at you, you will be able to make clearer decisions. The bottom line is, you can’t control everything in life, you can try, but you never will. You can not determine the future or have any way of knowing what will happen past this moment. You may make mistakes, you will learn from them and move on.

Acceptance is something that is not difficult to attain. You already practice this in your daily life. When you drive on a highway or interstate, you have to accept the fact that other people are safe drivers and not going to crash in head on to you. Every time you get into a car with somebody else, you accept you are essentially putting your life in their hands. You don’t let fear rule that part of your life. You would never be able to leave your house, cross the street, you do it because you must, and you have to apply that to your decision-making process as well. Nothing in life is guaranteed. Even if you mess up, at least you had the courage to make a decision. Perhaps if you took the other path then something worse would have happened. You can’t foresee the future, nobody expects you do, and as soon as you accept the fact you have no control, you will have the confidence you need to make these decisions. Once you have attained that confidence, the rest is easy.

So, make a choice today to change. Do not allow yourself to be a victim and controlled by fear. You are responsible for the choices you make, that you make to the best of your abilities, and that is how you will be successful in life. Want to be successful? Take the next step and register for the next Turning Point Seminar with Marshall Sylver.

The Levels of Consciousness in Hypnosis

There is a spectrum of levels of consciousness that begin at being fully alert and ending with a dound sleep. The way to distinguish the different levels from each other is through brain wave frequencies. There are not rigid boundaries separating them, which is why it is a spectrum. The levels gradually fade from one to the other, while overlapping, which is described below by well known hypnotist and seminar host, Marshall Sylver

Level Condition Cycles (per second)

Beta Fully Awake 13-25
Alpha Period between sleep and alertness 8-12
Theta Deep sleep or hypnosis 4-7
Delta Fully Asleep .5-3

Beta is what people exist in usually during the day, also known as the ‘normal state’. Both Theta and Alpha are considered to be altered states, which are not either awake or fully asleep.

These ‘altered states of consciousness’ are the stages in which behavior modification may possible take place. If suggestions are given while in this state, they travel directly to the subconscious mind, without stopping at the brain. The awake brain contains analytical consciousness that may normally stop these suggestions from reaching that far. The subconscious just blindly accepts any suggestions or comments fed into it, and a person may act upon those thoughts.

What does this have to do with Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is used in that altered state, and can be an effective tool. Although suggestions can be effective at Beta level, or full alertness, they are much more successful in either Alpha or Theata levels.

What are the benefits?

Research has suggested that only 20% of emotional and physical problems are unrelated to stress. Relaxation is the basis of all hypnotism, so it allows a person to be relieved from anxiety and tension in our brains. This relaxation can help a person become motivated and start working harder on their business. If you are looking for more inspiration and motivation, visit one of Marshall Sylver’s seminars, Turning Point Seminar is a very popular seminar.

Is it like yoga?

Meditation and Yoga both involve narrowing of your concious and involve physical relaxation. Hypnosis is goal and task oriented, and helps to work towards desired goals. The difference between Hypnotism and yoga is that a conscious runs freely and it may lead to a wonderful sense of awareness. It is easier to slip from state to state in hypnosis.
